The Tintex-Mission
Tintex does not view environmental protection as a short-lived trend, but has been working for over 20 years on its contribution against climate change. Tintex’s special technologies
Tintex developed “Plummy”, a new type of hybrid finish that gives surfaces more refined nuances - from subtle sheen to luminous velvet finishes or semi-matt looks. This process reduces the amount of dye used by 30% and extends the lifespan of the garments. In addition, the new “Plummy” technology is GOTS certified. “Naturally Clean” is another technological milestone of our partner. The technique takes a cost-effective approach that eliminates the need for aggressive treatments and uses Novozymes technologies to optimise clean surfaces, vibrant colours and a smooth finish. The third innovative technology, “Colorau” brings naturally dyed fabrics to life with the use of plants and other natural resources. The process involves the use of naturally derived compounds for the production of functional and sustainable textiles from different fibres (cotton, recycled polyamide and wool). Water is the only solvent used to extract the colour. Tintex is the global market leader for biological solutions.
The quality attribute “Made in Portugal”
The Portuguese textile industry is growing steadily and is a global benchmark for premium quality. Seen in numerical terms: There are more than 12 thousand fashion companies with more than 130 thousand employees and an average annual turnover of 7.3 billion euros. Furthermore, Portugal has a good reputation as a production location, as the provisions of international labour law are applied and workers are organised in trade unions. Fair labour conditions and sustainable processing are not uncommon here and stand for the renowned quality standard “Made in Portugal”.
